Woven Corset Bodice Tutorial by nolwen Woven Corset Bodice Tutorial by nolwen
So this is my first tutorial ever!
It was made for :iconmarcusstratus: because he asked me ages ago and I took forever and forgot and then he reminded me and was ever so patient. I hope this helps and answers your questions. If it does not and is totally confusing please let me know and I will fix it.

I hope others can get use out of it as well. And who knows, if it teaches anyone anything, I may even make some more in the future.

So please tell me what you think, and what needs fixing (other then typos and spelling)

Yeah, I need sleep. maybe will edit in the morning....

.... zzzzz

Both turned out great! For the silk top at the bottom, how did you do the closure? Are there hooks or a zipper going down the back?
Mines-of-Moria Featured By Owner Jul 17, 2013  Student Artisan Crafter
It is completely lovely but im confused on where exactly you sew when your overlapping. so if you could try to clear that up for me, I'd be very grateful..
nolwen Featured By Owner Aug 11, 2013   Artisan Crafter
You sew the very bottom edge of the strip so that the strip below overlaps the seam. I hope that makes sense.

This is amazingly helpful, I was so specific(with crossesd fingers!) in my Google search that i didn't think there could be anything out and about to help me.
but Basically the exact words i searched for.
Thanks ten times.

That look gorgeous! Very awesome. Say, did you apply wax or harden the leather vest afterward with water?
VampGuy Featured By Owner Apr 2, 2013
probably not. That looks like upholstery leather and at that stage of the leather's life, its been died and stretched beyond doing anything else with it.

Hardening it probably isnt IMPOSSIBLE, but it would probably be very aggrivating
nolwen Featured By Owner Sep 18, 2011   Artisan Crafter
Nope, it's still soft. It's meant to be more clothing then actual armour.

I love your tutorial! I do have a question though, as I am a bit confused. You said you sewed the leather to a backing and then to a lining, but what do you mean by that? Is the leather sewn to a scrap in order to stay in place and then sewn to the lining? And did you sew the leather together or just to the backing?

I'm designing a website for a school assignment, and one of the major parts of the site includes tutorials and I wanted to ask if I could use this image as a thumbnail (credited to you). Please let me know if I do have your permission to use a thumbnail of this deviation. The website won't actually be live, it's just the flat design. Also I need to show an example of the page when you click on the thumbnail, let me know I can also use an enlarged version (kind of like the size I see here). Thank you.
nolwen Featured By Owner Apr 27, 2011   Artisan Crafter
Sure, that sounds neat! you have my permission to use it :)
