Hey all my beloved DA watchers! I feel like I've been neglecting you!
With my new Etsy shop and all my internet time taken up in trying to promote it, I feel like I don't have as much time for DA. Not that I had much time before, but now that I'm back online more I feel bad.
And I especially feel bad that I can't really do custom orders and commissions (see below) because I know some of you have been waiting for me to open them again. I'm sorry! Life is getting just getting busier and busier it seems!

I'm working on lots of new designs, and revamping old ones, and trying to not spend too much time online so I can spend more time sewing when I my dear little girl does not demand my full attention. Not to mention trying to keep the house clean and feed my hungry, hard working man. But I also realized that the busier I am, and the more I do for my creative side and for my family, the happier I feel! So as long as that nasty little creature called Lazy doesn't rear it's ugly head, life is good!

And I'm on Twitter now! So if you are too, follow me and I'll follow you back! [link]
I swore I would never give in to twitter. I thought it was stupid and silly and dumb, but then I realized it was a really good tool for all sorts of things. And I can keep track of my favourite online things from one place, so it saves me time. And it's kinda fun too ;P So come join me!

A word about cosplay commissions: I am very sorry to say that even though I am creating again, I cannot take cosplay commissions. I don't have the time for large project like that and I just don't have the resources. Living in a small town will do that. I'm sorry but Fabricland just doesn't cut it.

I've just opened my new Etsy shop! It's still only got a few things in it, but please stop by and check it out.
   [link]
I'll be posting what I'm selling there on my deviantArt as well.

I will be adding more items daily, so if you don't see anything interesting there yet check back later. I will even be making some of these [link] types of things :) Unfortunately I will not be able to take custom orders at this time, but who knows, maybe in the future.

First, sorry for being very absent from DA for the last months. Even though I have had the inspiration to make more art, the time and space has just not been there.
But my dear husband has finally gotten a real forestry job so we are moving to Cranbrook. For those of you who don't know it's in the south-eastern corner of BC, about 10 hours drive from Vancouver, and 4 hours from Calgary, and very close to the Rocky Mountains.
We have rented a lovely little 4 bedroom house in Kimberley, with a yard and big trees and tons of studio space! So that means I will actually be able to sew and make things again!! Yay!!! And Gwendalyn is becoming much more indapendant. She is able to sit and play on her own while I sew. I can make no promises of if or when I will open commissions again, but it's a start.

Thank you for all the recent comments, faves and watches. I do read comments, but I can't always get around to answering questions. Hopefully once we are fully moved I can get back to it.

Well, it was a success! Having a baby in tow sure changes things as I suspected it would. Friday was more of a trial run then anything. Firstly we had some issues getting around the new convention centre in the stroller. The elevators were most confusing as some of them went to some floors, and I had to run around to different ones just to get from one end of the building to the next. I think they could have designed it a little better. That and they don't have baby changing tables in the regular bathrooms. Thankfully they did have family washrooms on most of the floors, but they were nothing to write home about.
But other then that, the new convention centre was very nice. Lovely views of the harbour, lots of light and space, but it was lacking green places.

Anyway, on to the convention itself. Well, as I said, Friday was a trial run, and I mostly spent the day running around with a crying baby trying to find how to get outside :P But registration was fast a painless this year, so that was good. I even managed to get into most of my cosplay. I did a quick round of the dealers room and Artists Alley, which where in the same big hall. It was great to actually have room to move around! But I sure wish one of the main stages wasn't in the same room as well. It's very hard to talk to people when you have music blaring. And Gwendalyn didn't like it at all! Needless to say, we didn't stay very long that day.

But Saturday was much better! We stayed with my sister Friday night in Vancouver so we got to the convention much earlier. I managed to get both myself and Gwen into cosplay, but I was so mad because I forgot her hat with ears at home, so we had to improvise (I'll post pics soon). But she was in a better mood all day, and I even got her to nap in the stroller this time. It was also nice that Daddy, Auntie Lesha and Uncle Colin joined us for some photos that day. None of them had a pass, but they just wanted to hang out for a bit and check out the cosplayers anyway. So once they all left we met up with my good friend Rissa and headed back to the dealers room (I made sure to check there was no concert going on).
I wish I had more time to spend in the Artists Alley and hang out with my friends, but it was super busy, and Gwen started to get fussy when we stopped for too long, so I missed some of you. I'm sorry Nell!! At least you got my cookies :D But I did find some cute things in the dealers room, and I let Gwen pick out a little toy. She grabbed a little Mario mushroom plushie. Ooh, and I found her the cutest little outfit! I was just looking at some Sailor Moon stuff because Rissa is a huge fan (and I'm a closet fan) and there was a Sailor Moon bathing suite complete with a little hat with buns and pigtails. SO CUTE!!! I could not resist. It was used, but it still had all it's Japanese tags on it, and she won't fit it till next summer I'm sure, but it was only 5 bucks! I was sold. I can't wait till she can wear it ^_^

So it was a good day. And Gwen had so much fun watching everyone, and she got lots of pictures taken. She is such a little camera whore too. I think she is gong to make quite the fine little cosplayer :D

I didn't run into some of the people I was hoping to see, and I didn't get to hang out with some of you as long as I would have liked, but just the fact that Gwendalyn lasted for over 5 hours made the convention a success. Now I have next year to look forward to when she is walking (o_O

It's only three days away!!
And it's cosplay crunch time. I'm only making two new costumes for this year, one for myself, and for for my little one.
We are going as Jessica and a Candy Cat from Dragon Quest VIII. I wanted to do something easy and fast because I knew I wouldn't have much time to sew (which I don't). I also wanted something simple and comfy to wear, because lets face it, I don't want to be hauling props and wearing armour with a baby on my hip. And I just loved Dragon Quest 8 and Jessica is an awesome character. Plus then I get to be a red head again. And that game was just full of adorable little monsters for Gwendalyn to cosplay, so it's really the perfect choice or us.
I probably will be wearing the same cosplay all weekend just to make it easy, so keep an eye out for us if you are attending :)

I'm very excited that AE is at the Vancouver Convention Centre this year, it's really going to feel like a brand new con, and I've heard the new venue is beautiful and awesome for photos.

I hope you see some of there! If you are coming, let me know what you are cosplaying as so I can spot you and say hi :D
